Francisco Guerreiro calls for 12 youths to be returned to Hong Kong
Brussels, 1 December 2020 – A letter by Hong Kong Watch, signed by Francisco Guerreiro and 154 other parliamentarians from 18 countries, calls for 12 youths currently detained in Shenzhen to be returned to Hong Kong.
Addressed to Carrie Lam, Hong Kong’s Chief Executive, the letter calls on her to intercede personally in the case of the 12 youths who should be returned to Hong Kong, so they are able to have direct contact their families and are allowed to nominate legal representation.
The letter also states that it is Carrie Lam’s competence “to intercede on behalf of these young people to ensure that they are guaranteed justice“ and states that “to continue to fail to do so would be a gross abdication of your (her) responsibility to serve the people of Hong Kong and ensure their wellbeing and safety.“
