The assault on Brazil's democratic institutions

I voted in favor of the resolution condemning the invasion of Brazil's democratic institutions.
We strongly denounce the events of January 8, 2023, where thousands of far-right movements and supporters of former President Bolsonaro invaded and vandalized the National Congress, the Supreme Court and the Presidential Palace in Brasilia, calling for military intervention to overthrow President Lula da Silva.
Parliament deplores the fact that former President Bolsonaro and some of his political supporters have sought to discredit the electoral system and authorities, even though there has been no evidence of electoral fraud, and urges him to accept the democratic outcome of the elections.  The resolution also expresses concern about the acts and omissions of public officials, in particular those of the Governor and the Military Police of the Federal District of Brasilia.
