Ecodesign Regulation

We were committed to ensuring that ecodesign requirements could address substances of concern not only when they create problems for recycling, but also when they are a problem for chemical safety. We were the driving force behind premature obsolescence (the first definition in EU legislation) and the repair score. We successfully broadened the scope of products that fall under the ban on the destruction of unsold products, but failed to include electrical and electronic goods. We wanted to eliminate self-regulatory measures altogether, but failed to get majority support for this. In IMCO, we lost against the center-right on consumer instructions and online marketplaces.
