Standard hand luggage dimensions

I voted in favor of this motion for a resolution on standard dimensions for hand luggage.
The Committee on Petitions has received a petition calling for EU legislation on air passenger rights to be supplemented with uniform rules establishing a single standard for hand luggage dimensions. Many airlines based in the European Union and flying to destinations within Europe differ when it comes to hand baggage and checked baggage allowances. Each airline has its own rules on the size of bags it allows and the fees it requires from passengers. In the event of a change of airline on the same trip, the size of baggage allowed may be different. The petitioner believes that these different rules create a hidden cost, should it be necessary to change airlines for unforeseen or practical reasons. With this resolution, the European Parliament reiterates its support for the implementation of EU legislation on air passenger rights, with the aim of raising standards of protection and information for passengers, strengthening their rights and thus improving the travel experience.
