Own resources: a new start for EU finances, a new start for Europe

Strasbourg, May 10, 2023 - This report looks at the need for the European Budget to have an increasing need for new Own Resources at a time when the costs of paying for Next Generation EU are quite high and the challenges Europe encounters need robust funds to address them.Among the proposed new ways of financing the European budget are a wealth tax, a solidarity tax, a European minimum tax on capital gains, an own resource based on the kerosene tax, among others.Parliament is also calling for the EP to have co-decision powers with the Council on these issues of own resources.I voted in favor of this report because the proposed taxes are fair and will give the EU budget more power to meet future challenges.
