Measures for a high level of public sector interoperability across the Union (Interoperable Europe Regulation
I voted in favor of the report on measures for a high level of public sector interoperability across the Union (interoperable Europe Regulation). The final text is very positive and reflects well the suggested amendments of my IMCO Committee opinion report. Cross-border interoperability between public services is an essential requirement for further strengthening the single market for the benefit of citizens, including users and consumers, as well as businesses, in particular small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The text includes a requirement for Member States to prioritize the implementation of interoperability solutions that do not entail restrictive licensing terms, such as open source solutions. It also places greater emphasis on local and regional administrations facilitating cross-border cooperation and participation and benefiting from training actions organized by the European Commission.
