Strasbourg, July 11, 2023 - The aim of this report is to improve the successful Industrial Emissions Directive. Industrial emissions have fallen dramatically in the last decade, showing that effective EU legislation can increase innovation and ensure the protection of health and the environment. The report makes some very good points. However, I voted against it because the livestock industry is the most polluting industry in the food system, and conservative groups managed to get a majority to exempt cow production from being covered by this 'polluter pays' principle.
