Francisco Guerreiro signs letter demanding access to medicines for all
Lisbon, 26 March 2020 – MEP Francisco Guerreiro (PAN) signed a letter demanding the EU to ensure its citizens’ health and access to medicines for all, given the border closures and the intensification of controls at borders.
Under the initiative of Greens/EFA MEP Ville Niinistö, the letter was sent to the President of the European Commission (EC) and the Commissioners for Health and Food Safety and for Internal Market calling for the creation of fast-lanes/priority lanes for delivery vehicles from manufacturers of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients.
The text also alerts to the need of conducting Covid-19 tests on health care workers to protect employees against infections and reduce the impact of restrictive measures such as social distancing, thereby ensuring capacity for uninterrupted service.
