Fluorinated gases regulation
F-gases are man-made chemicals that are used as refrigerants in widely used products, including air conditioners, heat pumps, refrigerators and electrical switches. F-gases are harmful to the climate, the environment and health: there are F-gases that warm the climate up to 25,000 times more than CO2; some F-gases with low global warming potential are PFAS, i.e. chemicals that resist degradation and have negative effects on the environment and health. There are alternatives and most of them are being developed by European companies. The revised F-Gas Regulation will guide a transition from F-Gases to natural alternatives, benefiting the EU's climate, environment, health and industrial competitiveness.
