EU-Switzerland relations

I voted in favor of the report on EU-Switzerland relations. The aim of this report is to strengthen trust between the EU and Switzerland, based on greater transparency. Greater cooperation, particularly in the institutional field, would be in the interests of both parties, the common good and the citizens of Switzerland and the Union. In addition, the report aims to address entirely new thematic areas for cooperation between the EU and Switzerland, especially in the fields of security, geopolitics and peace policy. The European Parliament calls on Switzerland to become more involved in the fight against Russian aggression against Ukraine, particularly in the area of sanctions (allowing the seizure of assets, freezing deposits, collaborating with the relevant international working groups, ending the ban on re-exporting arms and ammunition).


In general, the report makes an urgent recommendation to the European Commission and the Swiss Federal Council to start and quickly conclude negotiations to reach an integrated solution to institutional issues. The start of cooperation in new thematic areas will be useful for a successful conclusion of the negotiations
