Discipline of settlement, cross-border provision of services, supervisory cooperation, provision of ancillary banking services and requirements for central securities depositories in third countries
Central Securities Depositories are systemically important market infrastructures involved in the last stage of a financial transaction (post-trade). Despite being among the most obscure and complex institutions, they are crucial for financial stability and the functioning of markets. This revision of the CSDR Directive as agreed by the co-legislators will improve some problems identified in the implementation of the current legislation and increase the supervision of activities both in the EU and in third countries. We voted in favor of this report.
