Creation of the Ukraine Mechanism

I voted in favor of the European Parliament's position for the trilogue negotiations on the Ukraine Facility. This facility is designed to support Ukraine, its recovery and its path to EU membership, with up to 50 billion euros for the period 2024 to 2027 in grants and loans. This mechanism will include EU support for Ukraine in the EU's long-term budgetary planning and will, inter alia, introduce appropriate transparency and accountability requirements. Greens/EFA successfully pushed for more requirements on sustainability (including the application of the principle of doing no significant harm as far as possible in a war-torn country), green transition, local government and CSO involvement and overall transparency, all for the benefit of the people of Ukraine and the EU. To mobilize funds quickly, the Greens/EFA call for an agreement on the MFF by the end of the year.
