COP28 without fossil fuels: Greens/EFA send letter to the UN
Brussels, February 21, 2023 - MEPs from the Greens/EFA Group have sent a letter to the Executive Secretary of the UNFCCC calling for a fossil-free UN Climate Change Conference. Francisco Guerreiro, an independent MEP, was one of the signatories.
The Greens call for UN climate summits, such as the upcoming COP28, to be free from the influence and participation of the fossil fuel industry. They call for a strong commitment from the United Nations to ensure that everyone is working towards a global fossil phase-out to combat climate change.
This is what MEPs are asking for in this letter sent to Simon Stiell, the UN Executive Secretary for Climate Change and responsible for the COP.
