Animal Welfare Intergroup urgently calls for proposals to revise animal welfare legislation in the EU
Brussels, September 6, 2023 - The European Parliament's Animal Welfare Intergroup, of which Francisco Guerreiro is vice-president, sent a letter this Monday to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, calling for the urgent delivery of the announced proposals to revise animal welfare legislation in the EU.
With this context in mind, the European Parliament's Animal Welfare Intergroup, which brings together more than 100 MEPs from all political groups, is calling on the European Commission to present the proposals on animal welfare as planned this year and to subsequently include the four proposals in the Commission's work program for 2024 as priority proposals.
The Intergroup reveals that it “is firmly committed to delivering the revised animal welfare legislation in this period and therefore strongly encourages the European Commission to present the four revision proposals as planned.”
