A group of 12 MEPs from the Committees on Fisheries, Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and Development are part of the EU delegation to the UN Ocean Conference taking place in Lisbon from 27 June to 1 July.

Marine pollution, biodiversity protection, ecosystem decline and climate mitigation are among the main topics of the event. In participating in the conference, MEPs are set to raise the EU Green Deal agenda, the EU’s blue economy strategy, and maritime policy, as well as the EU’s environmental and social strategies in developing countries.

The MEPs representing the European Parliament’s committees are:

• Pierre KARLESKIND (Renew, FR), Chair of the Committee on Fisheries
• Catherine CHABAUD (Renew, FR), member of the Committee on Development
• Sara CERDAS (S&D, PT), member of the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety
