Classification, labeling and packaging of substances and mixtures

Proper classification of chemical substances and mixtures with regard to their hazardous properties is a prerequisite for adequate protection of human health and the environment. Unfortunately, the Commission's proposal was unclear with regard to the classification of essential oils. The Commission should properly assess the situation with regard to essential oils and present a new proposal within four years. However, petrochemical substances containing more than one constituent should clearly follow the classification rules applicable to mixtures. I voted in favor.
