Portugal Postsen: ' European Parliament passes through Coimbra on Europe Day'
The European Parliament will be in Coimbra from the 9th to the 11th of May, as part of the ‘European Parliament at your door’ initiative, a tour of seven Portuguese cities with the aim of reaching citizens and making known the institution’s activity.
On the occasion of Europe Day, which is celebrated on Monday, talks with MEPs Maria Manuel Leitão Marques, Lídia Pereira, Marisa Matias and Francisco Guerreiro are already scheduled.
The official start of the initiative takes place at 10:30 am on the same day, in Praça da República, with the participation of the Mayor of Coimbra, José Manuel Silva, and the Head of the Office of the European Parliament in Portugal, Pedro Valente da Silva. At 11 am, the mayor of Coimbra talks about the European spirit.
Until Wednesday, a mobile structure will welcome all those who want to know better the work of the European institution. Immersive virtual reality, interactive technology, debates and other activities seek to show how the European Parliament makes decisions that make a difference in citizens’ daily lives.
THE ‘European Parliament at your doorstep‘ is an opportunity for people to get to know their representatives better and make their views heard with MEPs, while discovering projects supported by the European Union in this region.
During the three days in Coimbra, the structure will also host artistic creation activities, awareness actions and creative writing workshops. At the same time, the films nominated for the LUX Audience Award 2022 will be on display at the Casa do Cinema de Coimbra: ‘Flee – A Fuga’, ‘Great Freedom’ and ‘Quo Vadis, Aida?’. The Legendary Tigerman concert, on the 11th, at Teatrão, closes the activities of the European Parliament in Coimbra.
