Sakharov Prize: MEPs concerned over jailing of finalists
Brussels, 31 October 2020 - Several MEPs sent a letter to Honduran authorities expressing their deepest concerns over the current situation of Sakharov Prize finalists: Guapinol Human rights defenders and Berta Cáceres. One of the signatories of this letter was Greens/EFA MEP Francisco Guerreiro.
MEPs are particularly worried about the members of the Municipal Committee in Defense of Common and Public Goods of Tocoa currently jailed: Porfirio Sorto Cedillo, José Avelino Cedillo, Orbin Naún Hernández, Kevin Alejandro Romero, Arnold Javier Aleman, Ever Alexander Cedillo, Daniel Marquez and Jeremías Martínez Díaz'.
