Plenary Session:Obligations of the Commission in the field of visa reciprocity in accordance with Article 7 of Regulation (EU) 2018/1806
Obligations of the Commission in the field of visa reciprocity in accordance with Article 7 of Regulation (EU) 2018/1806 (B9-0339/2020)
I voted in favour of this resolution, in line with the Group of the Greens, as it contains an adequate response to a situation marked by injustice and inequality that has been perpetuating over time, concerning the fact that the United States of America falls under the exemption regime for the visa requirement for crossing the external borders of the Member States, even though this country/State does not apply, however, a visa reciprocity model for nationals of some nationals of the Member States of the Union, namely Bulgaria, Cyprus, Romania and Croatia.
Therefore, the Commission must endeavour to adopt a delegated act to suspend the visa exemption for all nationals of the above mentioned country (United States of America) and of other States/countries that do not apply the referred regime of reciprocity.
