Plenary Session: Gender Equality in EU’s foreign and security policy
Gender Equality in EU’s foreign and security policy (A9-0145/2020 - Ernest Urtasun)
I voted in favour of this own-initiative report which urges the European Union institutions to promote what some countries have called “Feminist Foreign Policy” (FFP). The report outlines a comprehensive set of concrete recommendations for the European Commission, the European External Action Service (EEAS), Member States, as well as the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy to integrate the gender perspective in all the Union's external policies and change the institutional culture accordingly.
The FFP this report promotes follows a three-pronged approach:
1. A greater representation and influence of women and other usually marginalised groups in the decision-making process at all levels and in all areas of foreign policy;
2. The attribution of substantial resources to stimulate gender equality and the promotion of marginalised groups;
3. The promotion of the full enjoyment of human rights for all women and other marginalised groups.
