Plenary Session: EU Security Union Strategy
Brussels, 17 december 2020 - See below what was discussed in this plenary session (14 to 17 december 2020) and how the MEP Francisco Guerreiro (Greens/EFA) voted.
EU Security Union Strategy (B9-0421/2020)
I voted in favour of this resolution as it addresses the issue of security, pointing to judicial cooperation, based on the premise of mutual trust, as the most effective tool for combating threats with high levels of danger to the Union, such as terrorism, corruption, and organized crime.
With regard to the phenomenon of terrorism, which should be highlighted, taking into account all its specific characteristics, it is necessary to emphasize the fact of calling for a holistic approach with the main aim of preventing and combating radicalization, which includes anti-discrimination policies, combined with a community-oriented policing framework.
In addition to the problems mentioned, enormous relevance must be attributed, through the coordinated elaboration of particular and specially targeted plans, to issues such as child sexual abuse, firearms trafficking, drug trafficking and environmental crimes.
