Decision empowering France to conclude an international agreement concerning the Channel tunnel (C9-0211/2020)
I agree with the decision empowering France to negotiate, sign and conclude an international agreement supplementing its existing bilateral Treaty with the United Kingdom concerning the construction and operation by private concessionaires of a Channel Fixed Link, namely the application of railway safety rules.
Such negotiations derive from the need to draw a strategy for the reorganization of procedures relevant to Eurotunnel's railway safety, in order to maintain a unified safety regime, an imperative that was triggered by the United Kingdom leaving the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community.
