Plenary Session: Criminalisation of sexual education in Poland
Criminalisation of sexual education in Poland (B9-0166/2019, B9-0167/2019, B9-0168/2019)
I voted in favour of this resolution because the attempt by the conservative Catholic majority in Poland to criminalize sex education is an attack on the right to education of young people, which is a fundamental human right.
The worst part of this legislation that the Polish Parliament is about to approve is the threat of prison terms of up to 3 years to anyone who informs minors about contraception, sex education or anything else related to sexuality.
This is an outrage, a return to the obscurantism of the Middle Ages, and this strong resolution by the European Parliament must be included in the process resulting from Article 7 of the Treaty on European Union against Poland for attacking the fundamental values of the European Union.
