Plenary session: 30th anniversary of the Convention of the Rights of the Child
Children rights in occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Convention of the Rights of the Child (B9-0178/2019, B9-0179/2019, B9-0180/2019)
The vote in favour of the resolution on the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child comes to support all efforts to ensure its implementation in all Member States and to continue to pursue a multisectoral policy that combats child trafficking, child exploitation and violence against children nationally and internationally.
The 2018 report on human trafficking within the European Union, with data from 2015 and 2016, states that 20,592 thousand victims were registered. Of these, 23% were children. We are talking about 4723 children who are exploited by human trafficking networks. Of these, more than half were victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation. These figures are alarming and despite the fact that there is already a Strategy to Eradicate Human Trafficking in Europe, we need to multiply efforts to guarantee the protection of all children who are victims of abuse and other types of violence.
