Francisco Guerreiro signs letter in protection of citizens at risk of over-indebtedness
Lisbon, 21 April 2020 – The MEP Francisco Guerreiro (Greens/EFA) signed a letter to the European Commission calling for solutions to reduce the risk of over-indebtedness for citizens faced with the Covid-19 crisis and the risk of not being able to pay their consumer credits.
“We call on the Commission, as well as the financial sector and its entities, to reflect on the socio-economic consequences this [Covid-19 crisis] would have and to consider various solutions, including payment flexibility and partial consumer credit defaults or debt discharge”, says the letter.
