MEPs demand Ahmad Reza Jalali’s death sentence to be revoked
Brussels, 27 November 2020 – In a letter sent to the President of Iran, members of the European Parliament call for the death sentence against Swedish-Iranian scientist and researcher Ahmad Reza Jalali to be revoked.
Imprisoned since April 2016 and sentenced to death for "corrupting the earth”, Ahmad is threatened with execution in a few days.
The signatories of the letter mention, namely, the disregard for international legal minimum standards in Ahmad Reza Jalali’s trial, as well as the fact that all requests for his release have been ignored so far.
